Anxiety Disorders – Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment

Anxiety

Everyone feels anxious at times. It’s a natural response to our external stimuli, which was very helpful back in our hunter/gatherer days when danger lurked at every corner. Nowadays, anxiety can feel overwhelming, and when it starts to interfere with your daily life, it might be time to seek support. At Impart Therapy, all of our therapists are trained to help anxiety.

Some common symptoms include:

  • Excessive worry or fear

  • Difficulty concentrating

Anxiety Related Therapy

At Impart, Anxiety is a major focus for us.

Whether it is a symptom of another underlying condition (such as ADHD or PMDD, for example), or the cause itself, we work with you to develop a therapeutic plan that helps lessen your symptoms and make you feel better.

All of our therapists are specifically trained to help with anxiety, and every therapy plan is tailored to your unique needs, goals, and pace. Whether using a specific, structured approach (such as CBT or EMDR), or a more generalized process (such as humanistic), we help understand the roots of your anxiety and build a plan to help.

This may include skill building and lessening anxiety or panic attacks through a mixture of mindful and behaviour practices. With us, you’re in control of your therapy process, and we work closely with you to help.

Approaches that Help

Our licensed therapists use evidence-based techniques to help you manage anxiety, such as:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – Identify and challenge anxious thoughts and behaviors.

  • Mindfulness Therapy – Learn to stay grounded in the present moment.

  • Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) – Using Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotional Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness to help

  • Humanistic – talking through your anxieties at your pace, in the direction that feels comfortable for you.

  • EMDR – Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, a structured approach to help heal from anxiety, trauma, and other challenges.
